Continuous and discontinuous piecewise linear solutions of the linearly forced inviscid Burgers equation
We study a class of piecewise linear solutions to the inviscid Burgers equation driven by a linear forcing term. Inspired by the analogy with peakons, we think of these solutions as being made up of solitons situated at the breakpoints. We derive and solve ODEs governing the soliton dynamics, first for continuous solutions, and then for more general shock wave solutions with discontinuities. We...
متن کاملMarkovian Solutions of Inviscid Burgers Equation
For solutions of (inviscid, forceless, one dimensional) Burgers equation with random initial condition, it is heuristically shown that a stationary Feller-Markov property (with respect to the space variable) at some time is conserved at later times, and an evolution equation is derived for the infinitesimal generator. Previously known explicit solutions such as FrachebourgMartin’s (white noise ...
متن کاملSolutions of a system of forced Burgers equation
Abstract In this article, we obtain explicit solutions of a linear PDE subject to a class of radial square integrable functions with a monotonically increasing weight function |x|e 2/2, β ≥ 0, x ∈ R. This linear PDE is obtained from a system of forced Burgers equation via the Cole-Hopf transformation. For any spatial dimension n > 1, the solution is expressed in terms of a family of weighted ge...
متن کاملLevy Solutions of a Randomly Forced Burgers Equation
We consider Burgers equation forced by a brownian in space and white noise in time process ∂tu+ 1 2 ∂x(u) = f(x, t), with E(f(x, t)f(y, s)) = 1 2 (|x|+ |y| − |x− y|)δ(t− s) and we show that there are Levy processes solutions, for which we give the evolution equation of the characteristic exponent. In particular we give the explicit solution in the case u0(x) = 0.
متن کاملNew conservation laws for inviscid Burgers equation
In this paper it is shown that the inviscid Burgers equation is nonlinearly self-adjoint. Then, from Ibragimov’s theorem on conservation laws, local conserved quantities are obtained. Mathematical subject classification: Primary: 76M60; Secondary: 58J70.
